Overview

Future Technologies is in search of a System Administrator to join our team in Dahlgren, VA.  FTI is a proven, employee-focused provider of mission-critical information systems and technical support services to government and private sector organizations worldwide. Responsibilities

The System Administrator will provide system administration support to maintain, develop, and operate the hardware and networks suites of equipment utilized in the development of software products. This support includes:

  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware virtual machines, optimize resource allocation and ensuring peak performance through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash, and Cron to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and reduce operational overhead.
  • Plan and implement the overall architecture of Linux and Windows systems, including server infrastructure, network configuration, and storage solutions.
  • Create and maintain kickstart scripts to ensure consistent and standardized Linux system configurations.
  • Proficiency utilizing PDQ to ensure consistent and standardized imaging of Windows 11 configurations.
  • Assist the Information Assurance team by working with Information Technology team members to perform vulnerability assessments, STIG hardening, and patch management on computers within the uRDTE environment.
  • Manage customer issues through a ticketing system, performing detailed diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify root causes and implement effective solutions that meet their specific needs.
  • Diagnose and resolve a wide range of system issues, including hardware and software failures, consistently improving system uptime and contributing to a measurable increase in operational efficiency.
  • Responsible for the complete lifecycle management of hardware and software, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance, along with system account administration.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years Linux/VMware/Windows experience, specifically Ten (10) years hands-on technical experience with the following: system backup/recovery; basic software management; security management; network management; operating computer systems; sizing, performance, tuning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware; operation systems and COTS software; hardware/software/network design, troubleshooting, and resource allocation.
  • Experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and directory services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with supporting Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11. Linux Red Hat 5, Linux Red Hat 6, Linux Red Hat 7, and Linux Red Hat 8. Candidates should be able to design, implement, implement, configure, and troubleshoot with Windows and Linux boxes and implement, manage, and monitor network devices, machines and ESXI hosts.
