Overview

FTI is in search of a Test Specialist to support our team in Dahlgren, VA.  The Test Specialist will support various Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) projects. The position will be within the LCS Branch at the Naval Surface Warfare Center. 

Responsibilities

The Test Specialist will provide system testing and evaluation support to review, update, and maintain existing combat system design and layout, as well as direct the review of drawings and configurations for the LCS program. In addition, the Test Specialist will:

  • Provide engineering support required to review, assess and analyze all levels of system documentation to identify and define test requirements.
  • Provide documentation of requirements and design specifications, test plans, procedures, test results, change proposals, and logistical training.
  • Evaluate test coverage with respect to test type, test validity, test scenarios, test conduct, test results, and problem report content.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in accordance with Government processes.
  • Analyze test and evaluation data to provide an assessment of deficiencies uncovered during testing.
  • Conduct, participate, or provide witness in tactical system ship-based and land-based test and evaluation, certification, and training events to be held at Government or Non-Government venues.
  • Participate in shipboard installation teams for tactical system deployment and verify that installations are operating in accordance with the system requirements.
  • Resolve Fleet identified system issues and evaluate problems reported against the deployed systems in accordance with the current system requirements as described by the Navy regional maintenance centers.
  • Define task details, estimates, and schedules for project management.

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in System Engineering, or seven (7) years of hands-on Combat System experience.
  • Ability to ride Naval vessels and climb a Jacob's Ladder
  • Experience with weapon and combat systems, and/or launcher systems. Experience testing and evaluating combat system interfaces or interface controls.
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management processes.
  • Active Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Littoral Combat Ship systems and design (LCS).
